I feel like I have been waiting for a very long time. The time is finally here. I have my IVF calendar. Moments ago I divided a payment of $15, 850 onto two credit cards for the Refund Plan deposit. The only other thing we will have to pay for now is the anesthesia for egg retrieval. And medications, which I will order next week.
Today I start birth control pills for sixteen days. I start Lupron in eleven days for the Lupron Overlap IVF Protocol.
I really know very little about IVF protocols. At the group IVF orientation when the nurses instructed us to pull out our IVF calendars, I discreetly attempted to peak at the calendars of other couples around me to see the differences. I noticed that mine had more text in each calendar day square, no blank squares, and I am guessing, more Lupron.
( Lupron is used to suppress the body’s own production of stimulating hormones to the ovaries. Some protocols include more days of Lupron injections than others, depending on how the RE thinks you will stimulate and how much suppression you may need.)
F quietly scolded me for invading the privacy of our fellow infertile comrades. The nurses reminded everyone not to compare your calendar to anyone else's calendar. I sulked.

So here I am with my calendar, penciling in possible travel days F and I will make together, and separately, to Portland this month and next. We begin. I still can't believe we are actually doing this.
I've read many Lupron horror stories. What was your experience? How much Lupron did your protocol require?

No experience with Lupron here, but sending lots of positive vibes and prayers your way!
Yay, exciting that you're getting started! I'm at the same clinic, and I'm pretty sure I did (and will do it again in Nov.) the same protocol you're on. 10 units for 12 days leading up to stims and then decreased to 5units throughout stims. I didn't really have any trouble with the lupron other than some mild headaches and a weird burning/itching sensation for about 10 minutes after the injection.
I was totally trying to check out other calendars at our injection class too! Good Luck to you, you're about two weeks ahead of me :)
I was on Lupron my first IVF cycle and I don't recall anything awful, mainly just a dull headache. Lots of luck!
How exciting to be starting! Gulp on the payments, but I love that your in a program I would absolutely not qualify for (or maybe? but I think my ages disqualifies me which is not fair if my numbers are within the guidelines!)
Wishing you lots of luck and a smooth easy cycle. I know nothing about Lupron, so I guess I will learn from you and all the other gals. ;)
Yay for getting started!!! I didn't do Lupron, so no help there. But, I've known some women who barely seem to react emotionally/physically to it at all -- hopefully you're one of them.
I know the feeling of "wow, I can't believe we're actually doing this." It seems huge and a small step at the same time.
For my first cycle, I started Lupron on Day 21, took it for 10 days at 10 units. Then, I had my baseline appointment, and lupron dropped to 5 units when I started the stims. The biggest symptom I remember was a headache every afternoon. It wasn't anything unmanagable. My second cycle was BCPs with no lupron. Good luck getting started!
Yikes! I just cringed when I saw the dollar amount you charged. Been there!
If Crinone is on your list of meds, I have a whole box of those if you want them. Send me a message and I'll mail them out to you.
Not using Lupron, but wishing you the best!
I'm really excited for you! I never felt bad on any of the meds for my IVF cycles, lupron, fsh, lh, estrogen progesterone, you name it. Maybe i was lucky, but I think it will be just fine for you!
So excited for the start of this IVF cycle for you!!! Lupron didn't give me weird side effects, but it didn't do what it was supposed to do in my body, so my doc stopped it early. Hoping this is a very very successful cycle!!!!
My IVF drugs were just Repronex and Follistim -- no Lupron for me. I never had any major issues, aside from having a very sore booty. I just recommend driving on non-bumpy roads as much as possible. Best of luck to you!
