While over at Fertility Authority reading about Vitamin D deficiency and infertility and how many injections GiulianaRancic receives during each IVF cycle (60!), I came across this holiday reminder from Ellen Glazer: The Cards Are Coming...with pictures of babies and families.
F and I have decided to not travel home or to be with family for the holidays again this year. We are not going to F's mom's to be with his brother and wife and our 3 nephews-- like we are 'supposed to'. My MIL is the best granny a child could ask for. It makes my heart ache to see her with her grandchildren (that are not my children). She already has plans for ice skating, sledding and other child centered activities. It will be too much for us(me) and we know this already. We will likely be doing another IUI later this month anyway.
Last year, we slept late on Christmas morning, made fudge just for us, went for a long hike to the beach with our dog, and watched a season of a TV series one of got as a gift in 3 days. We spent time together not being reminded about what we don't have.
Many of us are making our lists of how to cope during the holidays. Thanksgiving was the first hurdle and a reminder of just how difficult it can be. What is on your coping list?

I recently discovered I had low Vitamin D and my naturopath put me on a supplement, and I had no idea it could pay into Infertility issues.....interesting. And the majority of Americans are vitamin D deficient.
Good call on staying home for Christmas....self preservation is needed at times.
How are you feeling duirng your two week wait? Not much longer for you!
ooh, i must say that staying home, making fudge (yumola!) and spending time with each other sounds just wonderful.
what i take from christmas is that sure, we've spent a long time waiting for what we don't have yet, but trying to think and believe that everyday without it brings us one step closer to getting there. and just think how much our children are going to be worth since we've had to fight so hard for them.
funny, i've recently known three people who are vitamin d deficient...you wouldn't think that - but i suppose we've become more aware of the sun and wearing hats, sunglasses, long shirts and sunscreen...so i guess it makes sense.
i love guiliana & bill. my husband and i have only started watching it since our m/c..and i know it's scripted and everything, but i can totally understand where they're coming from. it's helped us a lot. plus, they seem to be really nice, fun people. :)
Coping during the holidays can be so tough. I plan to lay low this season, but I am definitely not looking forward to receiving all those cards!
